America Works of Albany, Inc. logoAmerica Works of Albany, Inc. is a private corporation that has operated successful, performance based contracts in Albany County for more than 13 years. Our mission is: “We change peoples’ lives by lifting them from dependence into the productive world of employment.” Working as a no-cost to employers job placement service, we provide employer partners with pre-qualified, job ready individuals transitioning from public assistance, incarceration and poverty for placement into open positions within the employer community. What makes us value added to the community we serve is that we monitor our placements for more than 90 days to assure that your new employees stay in the jobs we place them in. We provide both the employer and the worker with 24/7 support, with help with daycare, transportation and other social service supports, helping to reduce employer turnover - again at no cost to the employer, at the same time saving Albany County taxpayers millions of dollars in the reduction of welfare costs in the process. Partnership with America Works is a win-win for the community.

We offer our employer partners with on-site services, including help with applying for the Work Opportunity Tax Credits available for hiring our candidates. The America Works office also offers on-site Adult Basic Education/GED Prep for candidates we place as well as your incumbent workers who fall within income eligibility requirements - increasing your new workers’ chances for promotion. We also offer a Wage Subsidy program, where employees’ wages are subsidized through an Albany County Department of Social Services program for a period of up to 90 days - reducing your payroll costs.

For more information about our comprehensive programming and how you can become an employer partner, contact Sheilah Rourke, Director at awasrourke@aol.com. A representatives from our sales staff will set up a time to meet to discuss how we can help you with your hiring needs by providing you with job ready candidates with our supportive services from a pool you may not normally draw from.
